Kojo Funds is Back to His Hitmaking Best

It wasn’t too long ago that Kojo Funds’ music was the talk of the town. With colossal hit after colossal hit in 2016 and 17, you would have been forgiven for thinking that there was more than one Kojo Funds as the artist’s music was pretty much everywhere in the UK.

Funds was moving like an industry vet, and it was impossible not to take notice of standout tracks like “My 9ine” and “Fine Wine” – the latter of which features a trademark Funds hook.

Remarkably, the afroswing pioneer had never released a song before 2014, yet he was adequately performing the delicate balancing act of making music that was true to his roots, but also resonated with his UK core.

His delivery and carriage on records also sounded particularly polished and refined, earning him acclaim and a nomination for Best Newcomer at the 2017 MOBO awards.

After a little break away from the limelight, the artist is back and making a late push for song of the summer with new single, I Like, featuring Nigerian superstar, Wizkid.

The track is the UK artist’s first solo release since his acclaimed 2018 mixtape, Golden Boy. The single is an infectious afro-swing record, which shows both Kojo Funds and Wizkid at their best, with both artists delivering smooth, stellar verses on either side of Funds’ catchy chorus.
