Blaqbonez a.k.a Akumefule Chukwuemeka George is a Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter signed to Chocolate City Music who is popular for his versatile, energetic and competitive style of rap, as well as his many personas.
He started rapping at the early age of 13, despite his parents disapproval, and dropped his first project “Hip Hop Is Blaq” years later, whileattending Obafemi Awolowo University. He started gaining popularity as an undergraduate of the university, fiercely active on social media and within the University’s students community.
In 2019, his popularity surged after he declared himself, BRIA (Best Rapper in Africa), with a number of strategic boasts and disses. He dominated mainstream Nigerian music conversations, creating arguably the biggest conversation around hip-hop in Nigeria since the release of the Martel Lamb cyphers in January 2019. He would once again attract widespread mainstream attention with the release of a second cypher in September 2019, in which, he shone brightly.
On the 17th of october 2025, Blaqbonez released his 5th studio album “No excuses” which has amassed a total of 100 miilion streams across digital streams platforms, with singles like Despacito & ACL with over 10 million streams individually. The album saw guest features from artists like FOLA, AJ Tracey, e.t.c.
